About evaporative air cooler (2)

Why you choose evaporative air cooler
1.Environmental Benefits
Every time a consumer chooses an evaporative air cooler over a refrigerated system, the benefits for the environment are significant.
2.Less Electricity Usage
Evaporative air cooler consume only a small proportion of the electricity consumed by a comparable refrigerated system. Aolan series evaporative air cooler uses up to 80% less than traditional refrigerated units.
Therefore less fossil fuels like coal and natural gas will be consumed in the production of electricity and less electricity generation infrastructure will be required.

3.Lower Peak Energy
Lower Peak Energy usage means lower wiring costs, potentially useable with solar energy and less requirement for additional power stations.
4.No production of CFCs or HFCS
Evaporative air cooler systems contain no harmful synthetic refrigerants. Many of the gases used in refrigerated air conditioning are potent greenhouse gases like hydrofluorocarbons or chlorofluorocarbons which deplete the ozone layer.
5.Less Greenhouse Gas Production
Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emissions are many times less with evaporative air cooler compared with refrigerated alternatives. Carbon Dioxide is by far the main greenhouse gas.

About evaporative air cooler (1)

1.Introduction of evaporative air cooler
Evaporative air cooler has not compressor and freon gas. Energy efficient evaporative air cooler help meet the needs of today. Evaporative air cooler are designed to provide the most natural method of creating cool air with important saving-energy cost compared to using trad air conditioners.
The Evaporative air cooler is designed to provide comfort and relief from the heat in those situations and pleaces where other types of cooling are more costly or where it is simply not possible to implement them.
Evaporative air coolers provide an energy efficient option for cooling your home or workplace in the most natural way. They cool the air by means of the evaporation of water, which works best in hot,dry climates. They do not require power hungry components like compressors and not release freon gas.The low power consumption translates into significant saving-energy bills compared to using trad air conditioners. These are ideal for cooling garden patios, outdoor restaurants, large open area like warehouses and so on.
2.The principles of evaporative air cooler
As water is evaporated, energy is lost from the air, reducing the temperature. Two temperatures are important when dealing with evaporative cooling system.

                                                           evaporative cooling system

2.1 Dry Bulb Temperature
This is the temperature that we usually think of as air temperature, measured by a regular thermometer exposed to the air stream.
2.2 Wet Bulb Temperature    This is the lowest temperature that can be reached by the evaporation of water only.
When considering water evaporating into air, the wet-bulb temperature, as compared to the air's dry-bulb temperature, is a measure of the potential for evaporative cooling. The dry and wet bulb temperature can be used to calculate the relative humidity.
Evaporation will take place when the humidity is below 100% and the air begins to absorb water. Any given volume of air can hold a certain amount of water vapour and the degree of absorption will depend on the amount it is already holding.
The term humidity describes how much water is already in the air; relative to the amount it is capable of holding. Air is saturated when it cannot hold any more water. Imagine it as a sponge, if the sponge held half as much water as it was capable of holding, it would be 50% saturated. In the case of air, we would describe the Relative Humidity as being 50%.
Energy is required to change water from liquid to vapour. This energy is obtained in an adiabatic process from the air itself. Air entering an evaporative air cooler gives up heat energy to evaporate water. During this process, the dry bulb temperature of the air passing through the cooler is lowered.
3. How does an evaporative air cooler Work

Evaporative air cooler uses evaporation to cool the air. In an evaporative cooler, such as Aolan, a pump circulates water from the reservoir on to a cooling pad, which in turn becomes very wet. A fan draws air from outside the unit through the moistened pad. As it passes through the pad the air is cooled by evaporation. The key to effective evaporative cooling is ensuring that each of the cooling pads are completely saturated at all times during operation and that the systems fan & motor are sized and designed to deliver the appropriate airflow for the home.

How does the evaporative air cooler work?

It used to be that people who cared about the environment were looked down upon. People called them derogatory names like tree hugger, eagle freaks and greenies. Nowadays, it's considered a smart thing to care about the world we all share and the air we all breathe. We also care about keeping cool on a warm day. How do we merge these two? Evaporative air coolers.
Evaporative air  Coolers like the Swamp Cooler are coolers that use the cooling effect of water evaporation to lower air temperature. Think about when you've just exerted your body by playing a sport or running to catch some sort of public transportation. You feel hot, sweaty and out of breath. Once your sweat evaporates, you feel cooler though. That is the idea behind evaporative cooling.
Evaporative coolers use 75% less energy than air conditioners. That's not the only way they are good for the environment though. They don't use refrigerants like freon. Freon destroys the ozone layer. They also curb noise pollution by using a blower instead of an axial fan like an air conditioner.
Some people would think that with less energy and without freon, evaporative coolers aren't that powerful, but they can cool up to 350 square feet. They also help maintain the durability and lifespan of furniture by keeping furniture and fabric moisturized. Evaporative coolers also channel fresh air into the area they are cooling. As well as the hot air in the area being pushed out by the cool air through evaporation, bad odor, dust and smoke are also eliminated. Air circulation occurs every two to three minutes giving you a continuous supply of fresh air. The risk of bacteria being trapped in the air is also reduced. The moisture pad also acts as a filter which helps trap dust.
Evaporative coolers are also easy to take care of. They have refillable water tanks. Each refill should last up to ten hours. Sometimes they can have a hose connection which will continuously supply fresh water to the cooler. The filters in evaporative coolers can often be removed and rinsed.

     It's finally easy being green.

Evaporative Air Cooler Maintenance Tips

The air cooler needs regular maintenance in places with hot climates because constant working of the air coolers leads to building up of unwanted sediments and minerals. You should replace the pads at least twice during the entire cooling season or as frequent as once a month during its time of constant operation.
Correct evaporative air cooler maintenance will make the coolers last longer and work more efficiently. To maintain the air cooler perfectly, you should clean and disinfect the cooler in every six months. To ensure good flow of air into the room, you should prevent the build-up of sediments, fungus and algae inside the air cooler by using water softeners. Make sure that you specially clean the filter pads and the basin present inside the air coolers. There are windblown dust and pollens that get accumulated in the basin, creating sludge and blocking the pumps, water distribution system and the filter pads. So the interiors of the air cooler should be cleaned at regular intervals.
Maintenance Tips Before Summer and After Summer
Evaporative cooler maintenance should be conducted regularly to keep the cooler disinfected and clean. Since air coolers are the major instruments to distribute air in a surrounding, and people will always be breathing that air, so it is very important that the air should be fresh and clean. The air can be fresh only when there is regular maintenance of the air cooler.
During summer, following are the ways:
  • Remove all external weatherproof covers
  • Remove the filer pads and clean them thoroughly with a water hose
  • Clean all the waterways thoroughly including the sump and bleed-off systems
  • Refit the filter pads, close the drain valves and open water inlet valves to allow the units to fill them with fresh water
Immediately after summer, clean the air coolers in the following ways:
  • Disconnect all powers to the unit
  • Take out all the sediments and slimes from the basin with a brush
  • Let all the dirty water flow out from the tanks and pipes
  • Clean the basin and water pump guards with a cloth soaked in diluted household disinfectants
  • Dry the internal parts of the air cooler by running the fan
  • Fit waterproof covers to external units

Easy Guidelines For Maintaining The Coolers
Evaporative cooler maintenance is not a difficult task and can be completed within very less time with minimum of assistance from external sources.
Following are some instant cooler maintenance tips:
  • Shut off the power and water supply before you start to clean your air cooler
  • Install new media pads at least twice during the entire season to prevent unnecessary clogging of dust, pollen, mildew and minerals from evaporated waters
  • Remove the cooler drain tube in the reservoir pan and cleanse out all elements like silt, dissolved salt, stored dirty water, old pad fibers with nylon brushes and plastic scrapers.
  • Check to see that the V-belt is not cracked.
  • Rotate the motor and the blower wheels to check the correct working of the air cooler. Replace the wheels in case of any damages
  • In case the water is not flowing smoothly through the side panels then clear the blockage by placing a flexible wire into the tube-end orifice.
So maintain your air cooler following the above-mentioned guidelines to enjoy fresh and healthy air.

How to Install an Evaporative Air Cooler

Evaporative coolers work on the principle of heat absorption by using the process of water evaporation. The machine works by pulling hot air from the atmosphere into the wet pads. The cool air generated is circulated into rooms with the help of the fan.
Most people install their coolers on roof and fix blowers that push the air through a discharge cooler. Installing the machine on the roof top is cheaper but it has several disadvantages. Some of the disadvantages include getting on the roof to maintain the machine, leak in the ceiling and corrosion of the framework that is built to support the cooler.
Before you install an evaporative cooler, make sure you check the building codes of your area. After you have checked the codes, you must decide on the location and mark the opening. You must then construct a platform of iron or wood and attach the platform to the opening. When fixing the platform, make sure you don't cut any structural framework. The size of the opening and the structure will depend on the instructions that come with the machine.
Once the platform has been fixed, you must rent equipment that will place the cooler on the platform. If you have bought a small cooler, you can hire a few people to lift the cooler and place it on the platform. Read the instruction manual that comes with the cooler to check the spacers that can be used between the cooler and platform. It is a good idea to support the machine with guy wires to prevent winds from damaging your machine.
Check the size of the water tube you will need to connect the machine to the water source. You can use saddle valve to connect the tube to the water supply as it will ensure uninterrupted supply of low volume water to the cooler. After connecting the tube, you must connect the electric wires to the power supply with the help of the right conduits. Check the city codes to find out if you can do the wiring or if you have to hire a professional.
If you have brought a new unit, you must attach the motor and adjust the tension of the belt. When you buy an old unit, motor is usually attached and you have to make small adjustments to the fan belt. After fixing the fan belt and the motor, you must make sure the vents are open and the ducting is installing properly. Now turn on the water and set the water by making adjustments to the float valve. Once all the connections are checked, you can start the cooler and adjust the vents to get the desired air flow.
